August Programs:
Paradise Lavender Farm Visit: Wednesday, August 5th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. We had to postpone our visit from last month, but we’re still going on a field trip to Paradise Lavender Farm! We’ll do a craft and then have for a lovely stroll through a beautiful lavender field. It’s sure to be a tranquil and informative afternoon! Registration required. Chair Yoga Class: Fridays, August 7th & 21st at 2:00 pm. Join our experienced and helpful yoga instructor, Linda, for chair yoga. Chair yoga can benefit anyone, and has amazing effects on seniors such as increasing flexibility and relaxation. Loose clothing is recommended. Super easy, and all materials are supplied by the library! 14 & up. Registration required.
The Pocono Mountain Knitting and Crochet Guild: Saturday, August 8th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. All those interested in knitting and crochet are welcome to join the guild members for tips and techniques on the second Saturday of every month. Bring your own supplies. No sign up necessary.
Book Club: Tuesday, August 11th at 2:00 pm. Set in post-World War II San Francisco, “Noir” by Christopher Moore follows a hapless, low-level bartender called Sammy “Two Toes” Tiffen falls for a mysterious femme fatale, Stilton. This novel masterfully blends comedy, history, satire, romance, and science fiction to perfection. Meditation Workshop: Fridays, August 14th & 28th at 2:30pm. Feeling stressed out? Consider joining Bev for a great meditation session at PMPL. She will focus on basic techniques for deep breathing, visualization, and relaxation while participants sit in a chair for comfort. It’s wonderful for health and well-being, and especially good for all the stressed-out moms.
Guitar Workshop: Monday, August 24th at 3:30 pm. Bring your guitar for a free lesson every month! This month we’ll be learning the main riff from Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” 14 & up. Email joe@poconolibrary.org to register. Registration required.
Stephen King Book Club: Thursday, August 27th at 2:00 pm. In “Mr. Mercedes,” King takes a hiatus from horror, and tries his hand at writing a suspense thriller, and does a pretty good job. “Mr. Mercedes,” follows retired detective, Bill Hodges, as he pursues a mass murderer along with a cast of interesting characters.
