Joan Goodwin has grown content with her life as a physics and astronomy professor until she comes across an ad from NASA seeking women scientists. This ad ignites a powerful yearning within Joan to travel among the stars. Set in the 1980s, this novel follows her training and flight missions, and how Joan becomes one of the first female astronauts; but, it’s also a compelling love story! Rated 4.32 stars out of 5.0 on Goodreads. To get a copy and register, call 570-894-8860 or email joe@poconolibrary.org. Registration required.

Stephen King Book Club: Thursday, September 24th at 2:00 pm. Join us on the 2nd floor as we discuss Stephen King’s “Cujo.” This classic horror novel is a story of a rabid 200 lb. Saint Bernard who becomes supernaturally unstoppable, but it’s so much more than that. In the backdrop, “Cujo” shows us how easily families can fall apart. It’s a study in bitterness, betrayal and human emotion. Not for the faint of heart. This title is available as both an audio and e-book on our digital platform, Hoopla. To get a copy and register, call 570-894-8860 or email joe@poconolibrary.org. Registration required.
