Master Acrylic Portrait Paintings by Jewell "Bijou" Woods

This exhibit showcases the masterful portrait painting skills of local artist Jewel "Bijou" Woods.

Ms. Woods uses classic techniques and a keen eye for details to create dynamic representative portraits of people she knows and loves.  Her ability to capture realistic skin tones and expressions brings forth an intimate familiarity when viewing her paintings. She often works from photographic reference material.  Her exquisite talent as a painter allows her to portray the human form with dynamic and realistic color palettes which draws us into her people.  Her representations are inspiring.  We all feel like we know the people she portrays. Ms. Woods also paints landscapes and interpretive subjects.  She believes that art is about communication and how we relate to each other.  Her portraits certainly communicate her love for her subjects, and invites us, the viewer, into the moments she is having with them.

Artists who would like to exhibit at The Mountain Gallery should contact the Library Director, Ann Shincovich, at

ann@poconolibrary.org or 570-894-8860 x5 to get more information.

The library only accepts art that is framed with wire on the back, and exhibits on a two month schedule.

The gallery can hold 8 - 10 very large pieces, or up to 28 smaller works. We use the Walker System for hanging exhibits.

The artist is responsible for hanging art and for any reception they wish to have.  Please ask if you have any questions at all.

The Mountain Gallery has exhibited many fine shows by local and regional artists.
